Information for Parents

General Squad Information

Absence from training:

When a swimmer will be / has been absent from training, it is expected that the parents will inform the coach as to why this is. Due to other work and university comittments, it is often difficult to contact coaches via phones, hence this season we ask you to please email your coach with the date and reason for your absence. Coaches can then take this into consideration when looking at monthly attendances (which must be maintained above 75%). Email addresses for all coaches can be found on the 'Squad Pages' for the appropriate squad.

Punctuality at training:

Punctuality has become an issue over the last few weeks, particularly amongst the junior squads. Swimmers are reminded that the training times specified are the time at which you are expected to be IN THE WATER ready to start, not walking in the door.

Senior swimmers should be arriving 15 - 20mins early to stretch prior to their session. All other swimmers are asked by their coaches to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the starting time so that they are at the end of the lane with goggles and caps on at the designated starting time.

It is not acceptable to turn up 5 or 10 minutes late (without an explanation from a parent) and miss warm up!

Drinks:

All swimmers need to be bringing a drink bottle to every training session. The pool is heated to close to 30 degrees, so training for an hour will make you sweat just as much as running around outside on a 30 degree day. Swimmers who arent brining drinks are at risk of dehydrating!
